It's oh so still.
Saturday is my birthday. The magic number this time is... 44. Yeah, I know. See, I had planned to finish this fun Happy-Birthday-to-Me drawing I've been working on for some time now with all of you lovely folks in it doing crazy stuff and what not, but I'm afraid there just aren't enough hours in a day for me to meet that deadline. Why? Well, because I've been working 80 hours a week to meet 8 work-related deadlines, is why. (Yeah, I know.)

HERE IT IS:
I just wanted to thank you all for reading my blue posts these past few years. I've gotten to know some of you pretty well and if there's one thing I know for sure it's that you've broadened my mind in unexpected ways and I want to thank you for that too. They say, People come and people go, and that's as true as the gold I don't have. Or Bora. Some readers think, Hey, he's nuts. He hates politics! What's that all about? and run away, never ever to return. Others appreciate my writing even though I'm allergic to Google+ and Facebook. What I'm trying to say is... time's a-flying, but we're still here. You bet your sweet butt we are! And when I say here, I mean on this beautiful planet. You should see it from outer space. I bet it's a sight for sore n' blue eyes alike. All we need is a rocket.
So let's toast: Here's to us. May we stay as dazzlingly pretty and cute as we are today, both on the inside and the outside, and may our friendship continue to put a smile on our collective face for many years to come in an age when attention spans are a luxury some folks out there don't even want to be able to afford. Here's to us.

DeleteWell a big Happy Birthday because today is the day. That cake is a work of art and needs some serious eating. I'm glad you said you are still young because 44 is a perfect age. I hate to sound like a maudlin old broad, but they are all perfect, as I recall. Soon I am on my way to the farmers market and I will buy one potted yellow Coreopsis and plant it in my garden in honor of your 44th birthday. That is such a sunny yellow flower, one of the first to bloom in the spring and continues to bloom all summer. When I see it, I'll think of the Blue Grumper.

DeleteHappy birthday! 44 is my magic number this year, as well. Age is just a number, though. Every year I have a doctor's visit right before my birthday to remind myself not everyone gets to live to be this age! It does put things in perspective. Aging is a privilege.
